2010 US Open tips - Roger Federer appoints coach ahead of US Open

- 28 Jul 2010

For the first time in several years, Roger Federer will be working alongside a coach ahead of next month's US Open, with the Swiss set to work with Paul Annacone

Federer will not be back on tour until next month's ATP Tour event in Toronto, which will be streaming live online with bet365, who are streaming ATP events in the build to Flushing Meadows for free at bet365 > Live Streaming > Live Sport.

Between now and then, he will be working closly with Paul Annacone, who at one point was the coach of tennis legend Pete Sampras.

Federer has been without a coach after parting company with Tony Roche several years ago and the trial appointment of Annacone comes at a time where the Swiss star is looking to get back on top.

2010 has not been a vintage year for Federer as quarter-final defeats at the French Open and Wimbledon have seen him slip to number three in the world.

"I've been looking to add someone to my team and I've decided to spend some days with Paul Annacone," Federer wrote on his official website.

"As Paul winds down his responsibilities working for the Lawn Tennis Association, we will explore our relationship through this test period.

"Paul will work alongside my existing team and I am excited to learn from his experiences."
