Lee Westwood new favourite to win this weekend at Turnberry

Betting for the 138th Open Championship has been thrown wide open after world number one and tournament favourite Tiger Woods missed the cut on Friday.

Little known American Steve Marino and five-time champion Tom Watson are joint leaders at the halfway stage, but remain unfancied in the betting.

Marino, playing his first links tournament and on his first trip to Britain, sunk a 20-foot put on 17 for an eagle as he shot a two-under round of 68 on Friday.

He is still available this morning at a best priced 18/1 (Skybet) while 59-year-old Watson, playing in his 32nd Open Championship, is still available at 33/1 (Ladbrokes, Paddy Power).

Regardless of the weekend outcome, Watson's performance will be a memorable one. He sunk massive putts at 16 and 18 on Friday as he went round in a level-par 70 in tough conditions at Turnberry.

Lee Westwood is the new tournament favourite. He is three shots off the lead but no better than the 8/1 with Paddy Power and Stan James this morning.

Retief Goosen, two shots back, is 9/1 (Paddy Power), with Ross Fisher (10/1 Ladbrokes), Sergio Garcia (12/1 Paddy Power) and Vijay Singh (14/1 Boylesports, Ladbrokes, William Hill) next in the market.

Oddspreview.com's pre-tournament pick Jim Furyk is now no better than 18/1 (Sportingbet), while Mark Calcavecchia, who lies just one shot off the lead, is 40/1 with bet365.
