Saturday's reaction:

The morning fourballs got underway at 08:00 BST, with the pairings being the same as on Friday as Europe landed the first point with Lee Westwood and Martin Kaymer beating Phil Mickelson and Dustin Johnson before USA fought back with Luke Donald and an off-form Padraig Harrington losing to Bubba Watson and Jeff Overton.

Rory McIlroy and Graeme McDowell halved their match with Stewart Cink and Matt Kuchar before the final game went to the 18th hole as Ian Poulter and Ross Fisher were eventually beaten by the impressive Steve Stricker and world number one Tiger Woods.

USA extended their lead in the second session when the Molinari brothers, Edoardo and Francesco, lost their opening game to Zach Johnson and Hunter Mahan.

Padraig Harrington and Ross Fisher then made it 3½ to 2½ with a 3&2 win over Phil Mickelson and Dustin Johnson before Tiger Woods and Steve Stricker again gave USA a two point lead as they beat Miguel Angel Jimenez and Peter Hanson 4&3.

Jim Furyk and Rickie Fowler battled hard to earn a half point in their match against Lee Westwood and Martin Kaymer to make the scores 5-3.

Ian Poulter's putt on the 17th then gave him and the impressive Luke Donald a 2&1 win over Bubba Watson and Jeff Overton to make it 5-4 before USA again extended their lead to two points as Stewart Cink and Matt Kuchar beat Graeme McDowell and Rory McIlroy in the final game of the session 2&1.
