Huge support for Ferrari ahead of Sunday's Formula One Hungarian Grand Prix

William Hill report huge support for Ferrari in the build up to this weekend’s Hungarian Grand Prix with 80% of bets taken by the leading bookmaker being for Ferrari and in particular, Fernando Alonso.

Alonso is attracting the most interest, with close to 75% of all bets placed as of Thursday afternoon being for the controversial winner of last week's German Grand Prix.

Hill's, who are offering new customers a £25 free bet when opening an account using bonus code F25, make Alonso is the 2/1 joint favourite with Sebastian Vettel to win in Budapest on Sunday afternoon.

But punters have been ignoring Vettel, whose tendency to hit the self destruct button has left him friendless, attracting less than 5% of bets so far this week.

Despite Paddy Lowe’s admission that McLaren will struggle to keep up with the Red Bulls and Ferraris this week, Lewis Hamilton is being backed at 6/1 and Jenson Button at 12/1, with the duo accounting for almost 15% of all bets placed.

Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly said: "At the start of the season, Red Bull were attracting the majority of the cash, then the McLarens came to the fore and now punters are putting their faith in Ferrari."
