Valencia CF v Manchester United team news (19:45 BST kick-off)

- 29 Sep 2010

The bookmakers have tonight's game down as a tight one as Manchester United travel to Valencia in the Champions League

Manchester United are without Wayne Rooney (ankle) and Ryan Giggs (hamstring) for tonight's game.

Paul Scholes has been rested, while Antonio Valencia (ankle) is a long-term absentee.

But midfielder Michael Carrick (Achilles) could return for tonight's game in what would be his first appearance since August.

Rio Ferdinand could be handed a start alongside Nemanja Vidic in central defence, while Portuguese striker Bebe has also flown out to Spain.

Valencia winger Joaquin (thigh) is set to miss out for the Spaniards, while Alejandro Dominguez (hip) is rated as doubtful.

Ever Banega (ankle) and Vicente Rodriguez (hamstring) are set to miss the game.

But Juan Mata (ankle) is expected to play despite taking a knock in training on Monday.
