A place in the football league beckons for either Oxford or York today
York pulled off something of a shock by not only beating in-form Luton in the Blue Square Premier League play-off semi-final, but by also stopping the free-scoring Hatters from scoring in either of the two legs of the tie.
That will give the York players a huge confidence boost ahead of today'sWembley final against Oxford.
The Us are the 11/8 favourites with Bluesq to win the match, and the fact that they were undefeated in their two matches against York this season does count heavily in their favour.
However, the game will undoubtedly be close, and there could be some value in opposing Oxford, and backing either a York win, at 21/10 or the draw, at 23/10, with Coral.
Richard Brodie (5/1, SkyBet) finished the season as the Conference’s top-scorer, with 26 goals. He has opened the scoring in three of his side’s last five games, and as York’s penalty taker, he is by far the most likely scorer for the team.
James Constable (5/1, Bet365) is the main threat for Oxford, but with York having tightened up defensively, he could find chances at a minimum on Sunday.
York will be looking for another clean sheet, and it is 4/1 (SkyBet) that they win to nil for a third successive play-off game. It is 8/1 (Bluesq) that they win one-nil, and that could be the most likely final score.
