Motherwell v Rangers tips

Walter Smith still chasing win at Fir Park.

Surprisingly, since returning to Rangers in 2007, Walter Smith is yet to record a win over Motherwell at Fir Park. This would suggest that the price of 13/2 (Coral) on a home win represents some value, however, it is worth bearing in mind that in the last twenty seven meetings between the two clubs, Motherwell have failed to win once.

Rangers, are of course, top of the SPL, and by a long way, the best side in the division. Odds of 8/15 though, are too short, given that Motherwell are currently on a five match unbeaten run, which has included four wins, and no goals conceded.

Instead, backing the draw (10/3, SkyBet) or else Motherwell, with a one goal head-start (11/8, Bet365) could be the way to go.

It would also be folly to pass up the evens on offer from Bet365 that the game contains less 2.5 goals, especially given Motherwell’s miserly defensive record under Craig Brown, and that six of the Gers last seven games have gone under that mark.

With that in mind, it may be worth looking at correct scores of either one-one (15/2, SkyBet) or nil-nil (12/1, SkyBet) although, as always, with the latter, take the ‘no goalscorer’ option, as it ensures a pay-out if the game is separated by a solitary own goal.

Recommendation

Over/Under 2.5 Goals – Under (Evens, Bet365)
