Manchester City to appoint Jose Mourinho as Roberto Mancini's replacement?

Jose Mourinho will be approached to manager Manchester City should the big spending Eastlands outfit decide to sack Roberto Mancini, according to a report on Sunday

The Sunday Mirror report that Real Madrid manager Mourinho will be approached should City decide that Mancini is not up to the job following the Blues' run of three defeats in a row ahead of Sunday afternoon's trip to West Brom.

Mourinho's contract at Madrid reportedly allows him to leave the La Liga club at the end of each season and City are 3/1 at time of writing with Victor Chandler to be the next English club that the 'Special One' manages.

Mancini is odds-on with most firms to be out of the Eastlands job before the end of the season, with bet365 offering just 4/7 that he is gone before next May.

bet365 spokesman Steve Freeth told Oddspreview: "Another defeat makes it three on the bounce for Man City and Mancini will know more than anybody that he’ll need to stop the rot soon or start packing his bags.

"Our 4/7 will shorten dramatically if they’re beaten by the Baggies on Sunday."
