Manchester City odds-on to be ‘Best of the Rest’

Bookies make the ‘winner without Big 4’ market a three-horse race, although Villa, Spurs and Citizens ahead of Liverpool right now!

Mark Hughes’ team finally ended their run of draws on Saturday evening with a deserved 2-1 win over Chelsea and the bookmakers now make them odds-on (5/6 Ladbrokes) to win the ‘Premier League w/o Big 4’ market.

Manchester City are still only sixth in the Premier League following the victory, although three points from their game in hand will see them in the top four and they have proven with home wins against the Blues and Arsenal that they can mix it with the big boys.

Nevertheless, previous results had included home draws with Burnley and Hull, so it’s possible that inconsistency could yet plague City this season.

Tottenham are 2/1 (Sporting Bet) on the same market and Harry Redknapp’s team look set for a good season. They looked to be on course for maximum points at Goodison Park on Sunday, although a late Everton comeback means they remain in fourth place for now.

Sandwiched between Spurs and City are Aston Villa, with Martin O’Neill’s team 9/2 (bet365) to finish ahead of both rivals this season. They certainly played some scintillating football when beating Hull on Saturday, although their away form looks a little shaky this term.
