Karim Benzema set for return to Stade Gerland tonight

Karim Benzema moved from Lyon to Real Madrid in the summer for a fee of around €35million, and the Frenchman will be returning to his former club tonight, hoping to score the goals that will allow Real to qualify for the Champions League quarter-finals.

Benzema is 6/1 with totesport to score either the first or last goal in the Stade Gerland, while Real are a best price 11/10 with bet365 to leave France with an advantage to take into the second-leg of the tie.

Lyon are 56/19 (bwin) to beat Los Meringues and, realistically, they will need to win at home if they hope to qualify, as Real are an exceptionally tough proposition in the Bernabeu.

It is a tough ask, especially as Real are back to their best in La Liga and Cristiano Ronaldo (9/2 with bwin and totesport to open the scoring) is in blistering form, scoring twice at the weekend, to bring his season’s total to an incredible seventeen in just nineteen starts.

The Portuguese is 6/5 with totesport to find the net at any time, and the statistics suggest those odds should be taken.

As the home side, Lyon will have to attack, and odds against (21/20 bet365) that the game contains three or more goals looks like a good price, especially as in order to win, Lyon will more than likely have to score two goals.

It is 12/1 (bet365) that the home side win two-one, although, the reverse result, and a two-one victory for Real, at 9/1 with Boylesports is probably a better way to spend your money.
