Liverpool FC betting - Wayne Bridge to follow Brad Jones to Liverpool?

- 17 Aug 2010

Liverpool are favourites to sign Wayne Bridge from Manchester City before the transfer window closes at the end of the month

The Anfield club on Tuesday completed the £2.3million signing of Brad Jones from Middlesbrough and City left-back Bridge, who has been linked with a move to Anfield throughout the summer, is odds-on to join the Reds should he leave the Eastlands club this summer, which many expect to happen.

With the new Premier League season now underway, clubs have until the end of the month to assemble their squads under new Premier League rules that insists clubs must submit a 25-man squad, which may pave the way for Bridge to leave City.

Bridge's place in the City team has come under threat from the £16million signing of left-back Aleksandar Kolarov this summer - a signing that Roberto Mancini insisted is to provide competition for the former Chelsea defender.

"I want two top-class players for each position," said Mancini of the signing last month, but whether Kolarov will be there to provide competition or as a replacement for Bridge remains to be seen, although the betting suggests the latter.

As of Tuesday afternoon, Bridge was 4/6 with Sky Bet (£5 no deposit free bet) to join Liverpool before the transfer window closes on August 31st, with a move to Tottenham 7/1 and Aston Villa 9/1.

Bridge is one of several players who could depart Eastlands this month as Roberto Mancini makes wholesale changes to his squad after a number of big money transfer deals this summer, with Craig Bellamy leaving to the club on loan and several others possibly to follow before the end of the month.
