Xavi is favourite to win the FIFA Ballon d'Or after a 23-man list of nominees was announced on Tuesday

The Spain international at time of writing is the even money favourite with Victor Chandler (£50 free bet) favourite, ahead of Wesley Sneijder (7/4), Andres Iniesta (9/2) and Lionel Messi (9/1) after the list was announced, which features three players from the Premier League although no British players feature.

Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas is a 25/1 chance, while Asamoah Gyan is 40/1 and Chelsea striker Didier Drogba is currently 50/1.

Victor Chandler spokesman Dave Jenkins said: "It’s difficult to split Xavi and Sneijder, but we feel the Spaniard is just ahead when you weigh everything up.

"Xavi was immense for Spain at the World Cup, and he has to be the best central midfielder in the world at the moment. He deserves to get some recognition.
