Arsenal striker Robin van Persie will miss the first leg of their Champions League semi-final against Manchester United next week with a groin strain.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger told the club's official website: "He is definitely out for Sunday (against Middlesbrough) and for Manchester United.

Wenger will also be without Russian Andrei Arshavin who is cup-tied, while Gael Clichy (back) will also miss out.

"He could be back for the second Manchester United game," said Wenger of the left-back. "He has a scan on Monday. We'll go from there. He has a chance to be back in full training next week."
