Blackpool singer Aiden blew his attempt at John Lennon's Jealous Guy and just a week after being made favourite to win X Factor 2010, on Sunday morning he was drifting like a barge following a self-confessed "rubbish" performance on the second live show.

Aiden could not hide his disappointment at failing to build on such a dazzling opening display and Cheryl Cole was quick to highlight his flaws, stating: "That performance was shakey to me and I think you know that yourself."

Simon Cowell agreed, adding: "You're not an idiot Aiden and your face said it all - there were just too many times on that song where you went out of control. Your nerves got the better of you and it ran away with you.

"I'm not on a downer with you and think you're potentially brilliant, but we've got to be realistic and you've got to find a song which you can control more."

Matt, on the other hand, was as smooth as silk and now heads the betting at 3/1 with Boylesports, while Aiden has been eased all the way out to 8/1 to go all the way.

Of the other fancied runners, Cher Lloyd received mixed reviews and is now out to 10/1, but One Direction have to be considered a real force judged on the amount of screaming going on from girls in the front row and they are 4/1.
