Defending champion Phil Taylor made a winning start to his 2010 UK Open campaign at Bolton's Reebok Stadium last night and will be looking to continue his good run of form later today

Taylor made light work of beating Wayne Mardle 9-2 in the third round of the UK Open, showing the same level of play that saw him hit two nine-darters against James Wade last month in the Premier League final.

Mardle beat Taylor in the quarter-finals of the 2008 world championship, but showed no signs of being able to cause an upset in the 'FA Cup of Darts'.

There were also wins for Wade, along with Mervyn King, Gary Anderson and Simon Whitlock.

But Mark Dudbridge, John Part, Vincent van der Voort and Mark Webster were all beaten.
