With the scores level at 2-2 going into today's game, England are odds-on favourites to win the fifth and deciding one-day international against Pakistan at the Rose Bowl, with events off the pitch once again in danger of overshadowing the game
Southampton is the venue for the final ODI of the five-match series with everything to play for after Pakistan battled to level the series at Lord's on Monday.
The game is set to go ahead after events on Monday in which England came close to withdrawing from the remaining two one-day games after Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Ijaz Butt claimed he had been told by bookmakers that England had been paid to lose last Friday's third ODI at The Oval.
England, who lost that game by 23 runs, have denied the allegations, and the England and Wales Cricket Board are threatening to sue Butt unless he apologises.
ECB chief David Collier said: "We are looking for an apology. If it does not come we'll look at other options."
He added: "Clearly we will seek advice but there are quite strong laws of defamation.
"You can't impugn someone's integrity without having proper evidence.
"To date I can say that we have received zero evidence of anything having influenced any England player."
England are a best price 4/7 with totesport (£25 free bet) to win the deciding game, which based on the previous four games could come down to the toss.
In all four games played in the series so far, the team batting second has failed to successfully chase down the target on all four occasions.
That could lead to some late changes in the betting once the toss is made, and the current best price on a Pakistan win (6/4 Ladbrokes - £30 free) may well shorten immediately should it go in their favour.
England have depended heavily on captain Andrew Strauss to deliver with the bat, and at 3/1 with Victor Chandler (£50 free bet) to be England's top batsman at the Rose Bowl is well worth backing.
It's England's final game before the squad for the Ashes series is announced, so the likes of Ravi Bopara, Steven Davies and Tim Bresnan will be looking to impress if given the chance, as will Paul Collingwood, who has completely lost form.
Eoin Morgan (6/1 888sport) has batted well throughout the summer and is a good alternative in the Top England Batsman market to Strauss if you're looking for some extra value.
England batsman Ian Bell (5/1 Ladbrokes), who played in Monday's 38-run defeat at Lord's after missing the first three ODIs, says England are determined to secure victory.
Speaking ahead of the game on Tuesday, he said: "Tomorrow is like a final and the guys are excited about going out there and trying to win it.
"In recent times, finals have brought out the best in England teams and hopefully tomorrow will be the same.
"We've had a great 12-18 months and a superb summer so far. We don't want to lose this series and it would be nice to finish this summer off on a high."
Umar Gul and Shoaib Akhtar impressed with the ball in the latter stages at Lord's and both could play a big part if Pakistan are to win this game, while Kamran Akmal (4/1 Victor Chandler) and Mohamamd Yousuf (9/2 totesport) will be looking to impress with the bat.
