Durham 9/2 to retain cricket County Championship

Durham are priced 9/2 with Boylesports to retain their County Championship Division One crown this summer.

Durham impressed last season as they took the Division One title as well as the semi-finals of the Friends Provident Trophy and Twenty20 Cup.

Geoff Cook’s team have brought in all-rounder Ian Blackwell from Somerset during the winter and look a good bet to impress again in 2009.

Steve Harmison will likely feature heavily as he continues to struggle to hold down a regular place with the England side, although Paul Collingwood and Shivnarine Chanderpaul will miss matches while on international duty.

Will Smith impressed with the bat last season and is 100/30 with Stan James to be Durham’s top runscorer this season. Smith, who has replaced Dale Benkenstein as captain for the forthcoming campaign, is also 28/1 to be top runscorer in the whole division.
