Flintoff 10/1 to be knighted following retirement from Test cricket

England are 2/1 with Coral to retain The Ashes in Australia following Sunday's 2-1 series win at The Oval.

Spokesman David Stevens said: "Australia were well-backed to win this summer's series after they beat South Africa in the winter.

"And after England narrowly escaped with a draw in the opening Test, the expected patriotic support for Andrew Strauss' men never materialised, so we're celebrating along with English cricket fans."

Stevens added: "Despite the victory, we remember how easily Australia won back the Ashes after England's 2005 success, so we make the Aussies favourites to gain revenge Down Under."

Ladbrokes make England 6/4 to retain the Ashes Down Under and 3/1 to win the series, while Australia are 1/2 and just 16/1 to complete a whitewash.

Ladbrokes spokesman Nick Weinberg said: "England have rewarded patriotic punters across the land. They attracted criticism in the aftermath of Headingley but fans kept the faith and have been duly rewarded."

The firm have cut Andrew Flintoff from 16/1 to 10/1 to be knighted in the New Year's Honours list, with skipper Andrew Strauss the same price.

Weinberg added: "It was a fitting end for Freddie. He fully deserves a call from the Palace."
