The championship game for NCAA college basketball is scheduled for Monday April 6th, with the semifinals taking place on Saturday April 4th.
PlayersOnly.com has announced props for the Final Four, including being able to pick the Most Outstanding Player (MOP) for, not the season, but the March Madness NCAA tournament.
Historically, the winner of the MOP has almost always been on the winning team, although Hakeem Olajuwon won the award in 1983, despite being on the runner-up: what this means is that you do not want to pick a player on an underdog team, no matter how good you think they are playing. As North Carolina is favored to win the tournament, their star players are providing the best odds with Ty Lawson at 5/2 and Tyler Hansborough at 3/1. If you have North Carolina winning, then Ty Lawson should be your pick for MOP as he has been the best player on North Carolina since returning from injury. While he missed the first round of the tournament, and that could hurt his bid, it was a 'gimme' game against a sixteen seed and he has been North Carolina's Player of the Game in the last three rounds since then. Also, Lawson has played well through injury and that should get him some 'hero' votes.
Connecticut is a team with several good players none of which clearly outshine the others.
f you have Connecticut winning then you might want to pay some serious thought to selecting "Field (Any other player)" at 7/2 instead of the two Connecticut options, A.J. Price at 9/2 or Jeff Adrien at 9/1. Notably, selecting "Field" would include Hasheem Thabeet, the 7'3" shot blocking centre for Connecticut who will attract some attention for the MOP award should Connecticut win as he has been named as Connecticut's Player of the Game in two of Connecticut's four tournament games and he has been solid throughout (Price was named only once, and Adrien none). Also that pick would include both Connecticut's Stanley Robinson and Kemba Walker who have both stepped up their play of late and could get the MOP if they have a huge final four, something that they are capable of doing.
Picking a player on either Michigan State or Villanova is too risky since they are not even likely to qualify for the final, let alone win it.
